Do This in Remembrance of Me

I wrote this for communion for one of my classes.  I soon learned that my professor doesn’t like spoken word.

“Do this in remembrance of me.”
Those are the words that Jesus said
As around the table He passed the bread
“Do this in remembrance of me.”

But it seems to me that when we pass the bread
That we notice how stale it is instead
And that we begin to forget that Christ isn’t dead
And that His flesh analogy wasn’t simply so we could be fed
“Do this in remembrance of me.”

He picked up the wine and said, “This is my blood.”
But it seems our focus is on finding which is the most full cup
And we only fully partake in Christ’s life when we’re down on our luck
And we decide the church doesn’t buy the nice juice so it can save a buck
“Do this in remembrance of me.”

This is His body, His blood poured out in death so we could have new life
Do we forget?!
“Do this in remembrance of me.”

I still need funds for my Africa/Israel trip.  Thank you so much for praying and if you decide you want to donate you can go to www.lifepacific.edu/online-giving-for-global-life.  Put it toward the Israel trip (not study abroad) and put Sara Froiland in the student name box.  Again, thank you for any support you give, whether prayer or financial.
